Going Above and Beyond

I am pleased to share MaineHealth’s 2022 Annual Report.

Since joining MaineHealth 18 months ago in the midst of a global pandemic, I have been inspired each day by the courage, compassion and talents of our care team, and the dedication to the patients and communities we serve.  Amid the challenges we have faced together in 2021-22, our care team has remained true to our values of patient-centered, respect, integrity, ownership, excellence and innovation. They are truly health care heroes.

The stories in this year’s report reflect our ongoing commitment to deliver high-quality care to our patients and communities, always striving to create an exceptional experience for each patient at every encounter.

You will read about care team members going above and beyond, lending support and stepping up to go where care was most needed;  innovations and research that are transforming the way we provide care and improve the health of our communities;  workforce development initiatives that are supporting and strengthening our care teams; our first-ever five-year DEI strategic plan and the steps we’ve taken on our DEI journey; and how an evolution toward value-based care will enable MaineHealth to be more resilient and responsive to the needs of our patients and communities. These and other stories are just a snapshot of the steps we are taking toward our vision of working together so our communities are the healthiest in America.

As MaineHealth marks 25 years as a health system in 2022, we should celebrate our progress while also planning thoughtfully and strategically for the future. With continued fiscal responsibility, a commitment to excellence, innovation, our people and culture; and the strength and expertise of our Board, leaders and care team behind us, I am confident we will continue to serve our patients and communities for many generations to come.
