The Heart of MaineHealth: Our Dedicated Care Team

As we reflect on the past year at MaineHealth, I want to express my sincere gratitude to our care team, who are dedicated to caring for our patients and delivering an exceptional experience wherever and whenever our communities look to us. Our care team’s compassion, expertise, and professionalism are truly the heart and soul of MaineHealth.

This year’s Annual Report stories reflect the considerable advancements MaineHealth is making in support of our vision of working together so our communities are the healthiest in America – from our outstanding new cardiovascular and cardiac care facility – the Malone Family Tower at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center – to our system rebrand, to the expansion of our graduate medical education, and so much more. These initiatives are rooted in our commitment to providing outstanding experiences and outcomes for our patients.

One of the other ways we measure our success as a health system is by the level of engagement of our care team. Engagement means that our team members feel passionate about their roles, connected to their colleagues, aligned with our mission, vision and values, and recognized for their contributions. I am pleased to share that we saw significant improvement in our engagement and safety culture scores of both providers and care teams this year, thanks to their dedicated action planning and innovative initiatives that fueled this success. Engagement also means that our team members know how vital they are to our MaineHealth community of care – and to your community.

The MaineHealth care team are your neighbors, school board members, and community volunteers. They are also doctors, nurses, patient service representatives, community health professionals, IT, financial and supply chain and countless other team members dedicating their lives to being there when you need care. They make a difference every day, whether by saving a life, comforting a family, or improving a process. They embody our values of patient-centeredness, respect, integrity, excellence, ownership and innovation.

MaineHealth is a dedicated community of caregivers who share a common purpose: to improve the health of our population and the quality of life in our region. I am grateful to them, and proud of the important role MaineHealth plays in our communities across Maine and New Hampshire. As we look ahead to the future, we recognize and appreciate the trust our community members place in us and will continue to work together to serve our mission and achieve our vision.

Sincerely,

Andy Muellers, MD Signature, MaineHealth CEO
