I was drawn to MaineHealth for many reasons, but first and foremost was our vision, which is both aspirational and inspirational. It speaks to our spirit and culture and our focus on what matters most. Our vision also distinguishes us from other health systems by being bold in our intent to not only improve all aspects of health for our communities, but to do so in partnership with others.

Health care has no shortage of challenges and opportunities. I believe we will continue to see pressure from payors and employers to deliver care in new and different ways outside of our traditional acute care settings, while also improving overall health and wellness to prevent the need for services. MaineHealth is taking intentional steps to prepare for this environment by engaging in partnerships and initiatives like Agilon to help redesign primary care delivery and care coordination, developing opportunities for direct-to-employer engagement through our ACO and further enhancement of our clinical service lines.

We also know how important it is to address the challenges of the health care workforce pipeline. MaineHealth is proactively investing in resources to enhance our Center for Workforce Development and partner with educational institutions to enhance enrollment in health care-related programs; we’re developing our own MaineHealth training programs while also creating opportunities for career development within our organization.  I am confident we are developing both strategic and operational initiatives that will position us well to navigate the uncertain road ahead.
